The Crossroads Arts District near downtown Kansas City, Missouri, is a historic neighborhood centered at 19th Street and Baltimore Avenue, between the Crown Center and Downtown’s Central Business District. It is a premier center for visual arts in the city and is home to a number of renovated industrial buildings and warehouses, which house more than 70 art galleries, including the Blue Gallery, the Arts Incubator, the Dolphin Gallery, Bryon C. Cohen Gallery for Contemporary Art, Grand Arts, the Hilliard Gallery, the Leopold Gallery, the Mojo Collection, and the Pi Gallery. The galleries in this art gallery district are best known for the shows that they feature on the first Friday of every month.
The Crossroads District is also home to a number of world-class restaurants, architects, designers, housewares shops, and other visual artists. Besides, the District features a number of live music venues. Most of the buildings in the Crossroads District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is also recognized for its annual Crossroads Music Festival. This festival is organized every year by the Spice of Lifer Productions. It features several concert performances, short films by local filmmakers, carnival games, local independent print media, and booths providing apparel by local designers.
