Kansas City

Kansas City, largest city in the State of Missouri, is situated at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers. It was established as the “Town of Kansas” in 1838 and got incorporated in 1850. The City is best known for its cuisines, particularly the Kansas City-style Barbeque, and music styles of jazz and blues. The Kansas City is home to over 200 fountains and is often nicknamed as “City of Fountains”.
Kansas City comprises of over 150 neighborhoods, including the historical Westport, 18th & Vine Historic District, the Crossroads Art District, Quality Hill, the River Market, the West Bottoms, and the Pendleton Heights. All these neighborhoods are included in Downtown, the urban core of Kansas City. Other places of tourist interest in the city include the 39th Street District, popularly known as the Restaurant Row; the Crown Center; the Country Club Plaza; the Country Club District; the Power & Light District; and the Union Station. The Union Station in Kansas City is home to several restaurants, theaters, Science City, shopping centers, and the city’s popular Amtrak facility.
The Restaurant Row is home to the largest number of independently owned boutique shops and restaurants. It is the hub of bohemian culture and literary and visual arts. Crown Center, on the other hand, is a popular shopping and entertainment complex in the downtown area. It also houses the headquarters of the Hallmark Cards. The Country Club Plaza is an elegant, outdoor entertainment and shopping district, especially designed to accommodate shoppers arriving in automobiles. The beautiful Brook-side and Sunset Hill neighborhoods are included in the Country Club District, well known for its magnificent historic homes, statuary, and fountains.
Kansas City is also home to several spacious parkways and beautiful parks, including the Ward Parkway and the Swope Park. The famous buildings noted for their architecture in the city include the art deco Municipal Auditorium, the Bartle Hall Convention Center, One Kansas City Place, KCTV Tower, and the Liberty Memorial. The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is the principal venue for live music performances. It is home to the Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Ballet, and the Lyric Opera. Kansas City has a lot to offer to its visitors and is certainly a perfect tourist destination for people of all age groups.
