liberty memorial

Liberty Memorial Monument, situated in Kansas City, Missouri, is a “living expression” of the gratitude of people grateful to the men and women who sacrificed their lives in the defense of liberty and the country during World War I. The Monument was designed by renowned architect H. Van Buren Magonigle and the site of the Memorial was dedicated on November 1, 1921. The Memorial site also features the National World War I Museum.

The Museum brings to life the history of World War I. It aims at collecting, preserving, and interpreting the physical objects of World War I. The main exhibits at the Museum include objects and documents ranging from letter and postcards from the fields, to weaponry and uniforms used during the war. The Museum also features an extensive collection of books, ranging from battle histories to personal accounts; museum quality airplane replicas; and period poster reproductions. The Museum Store was inaugurated on Memorial Day, May 30, 2006. A wide variety of toys, including the plastic model kits and patriotic teddy bears, are offered at the store.
