Flathead Valley

flathead lake

Northwest Montana is home to one of the well-liked tourist destinations of all times called Flathead Valley. A storehouse of natural treasures offering a wide range of recreational activities, this vacation spot offers quality entertainment for the entire family.

Flathead Valley is unique in more ways than one as it is the western gateway to the world heritage site of Glacier National Park, the site of the renowned Big Mountain ski resort. It is also home to the massive Flathead Lake that offers the perfect location to pursue water sports.

In contrast to the near flat floor of the Valley, the surrounding mountains such as Salish Mountains in the west and the Whitefish, Swan and Mission Ranges to the east display steep inclines. For outdoor enthusiasts, Flathead Valley with its lakes, mountain ranges and flat green expanses offers hiking, camping, mountain biking, horse-riding, biking, golf, rafting, swimming, fishing, skiing and snowboarding activities.

Climate in the region is relatively mild and therefore nurtures a wide range of crops such as wheat, barley, oats and potatoes. The galleries and museums located in the valley have excellent contributions from communities settled in the region and the more popular ones are the St Ignatius Mission and the Conrad Mansion. So art lovers can have a happy outing with the man made treasures after basking in the natural beauty of the region. For more entertainment and fun, the surrounding towns and villages are home to a host of shopping arcades and extremely enjoyable eateries.
