Smokejumpers BaseGarden city of Missoula, Montana is known for the largest smokejumper base run by the US Forest Services and functions as the headquarters of USDA Forest Service Smokejumpers in the Northern Region. Located close to the Missoula airport, the smokejumper base takes care of wildfires in about 12 surrounding National Forests. Smokejumper base employs over 80 highly experienced and extremely well trained men and women firefighters who work day and night to smother wildfires in the mountainous terrain and the adjoining wilderness regions.
