The National Automobile Museum, popularly known as the Harrah Collection, is situated in Reno, Nevada. This museum was established in the year 1989 and is known for its dramatic displays, extensive collection, and great opportunities for visitors’ participation, and in-depth interpretation. It is at this place where classic, antique, vintage, and one-of-a-kind automobiles coexist. Over 200 cars from 1892 to present are displayed in the Museum and most of these cars belong to the world famous collection of Bill Harrah, the late avid collector and avid pioneer. The Museum also houses the finest horseless carriage collections in the world.

The National Automobile Museum, situated along the banks of the Truckee River in downtown Reno, encompasses an area of nearly 105,000 square foot (9754.5 sq-m). The most impressive feature of this building is its smooth, rounded, exterior walls and chrome trim evocative of automotive styling. Heather Fire Mist, the most popular car paint color of 1950s, was chosen for the exterior walls. Autos, facades, and artifacts displayed in four period street scenes illustrate the styles and moods of each era. Besides, the history and progress of the automobile is depicted by a timeline of events and achievements on each street. Themed-car displays are featured by the Masterpiece Exhibits and a wide variety of topics from historical features to art are covered by the Changing exhibits Gallery.

The major museum's exhibits include a V-16 Cadillac, a 24k gold plated American Express Delorean DMC-12, a Duesenberg, numerous air-cooled Franklin automobiles, a Dymaxion car, and the very famous "Jerarri”, a Jeep SUV fitted with a V-12 Ferrari engine. Visitors are also allowed to take up the responsibility for regular cleaning and preservation of any car that they like. The popular Off-Road Motor sports Hall of Fame is also operated by the Museum.

Also, several fun family events and entertaining educational programs are organized every year by the Museum. A wide range of automotive-related gifts and merchandise, and a large collection of over 480 books fill the Museum Store. The Museum also has an extensive Automotive Research Library where research is conducted for journalists, scientists, scholars, enthusiasts, restorers, and the interested public. The library holdings comprises of sales literature, technical books, shop and owner’s manuals, restoration manuals, upholstery samples, wiring diagrams, photographs, and paint color chips and formulas.

The National Automobile Museum is not only one among the top ten museums but is also the best museum in Northern Nevada. This non-profit organization is internationally recognized and is established solely for educational purposes. It aims at collecting and preserving the automobile for future generations and educating the people about the impact of automobile on the American Society.
