RenoReno is the third largest city in Nevada and also the county seat of Washoe County, Nevada. The city of Reno is situated nearly 22 miles (35.4 km) northeast of the stunning Lake Tahoe and over 26 miles (42 km) north of Carson City, capital of Nevada State. Reno and the city of Sparks share their border on the eastern side of Reno. Reno is well known for its casinos and is the birthplace of Harrah’s Entertainment, the biggest gaming corporation. The city is also popularly known as "The Biggest Little City in the World". Reno is also rich in a variety of seasonal and annual recreational activities. Lake Tahoe offers great opportunities for fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, parasailing, jet skiing, and swimming. Wonderful opportunities for kayaking are offered at the Truckee River while Lake Pyramid attract thousands of visitors who come here to swim, raft, inner-tube, and enjoy the local Reno culture. Skiing and snowboarding are the two main winter sports that attract tourists from all over the United States. The major places of tourist interest in the city are the National Automobile Museum, Nevada Shakespeare Company, Nevada Museum of Art, Reno Arboretum at the University of Nevada, Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Reno Pops Orchestra, and the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts. Liberty Belle Saloon and Restaurant is the most popular bar in the city. Several annual cultural events are held at Reno to encourage tourism to the city. The popular events in the City are Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations, the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off, Reno Air Races, etc. Reno has a lot to offer and is a “must-see”. |
