Downtown

world market center

Downtown brings the authentic experience of the old Las Vegas and a visit to this part of the city is a must to feel the true Vegas spirit. Located next to the Las Vegas Boulevard, on Fremont Street, is what people popularly refer to as “Downtown Las Vegas”, the commercial hub of the city. Home to some of the age old casinos and restaurants, few of which are still functioning, Downtown takes you away from the maddening crowds to a less occupied and an equally attractive part of Las Vegas.

Downtown like the rest of Vegas is drenched in light, sound and bright color that holds the attention of visitors. Once called "glitter gulch" on account of the brightly lit casinos that seemed to make up for sunlight at night, Downtown has a vintage touch. The main attraction in Downtown is The Fremont Street Experience, a pedestrian mall that draws a large part of the crowds. Occupying over four city blocks this massive building holds over 10 casinos and over sixty restaurants. A colossal video screen located over 90 feet above ground level puts up free shows night after night and is an absolute treat for your eyes. Another chief attraction is Neonopolis, which was built at a cost of over $100 million and has shopping centers, restaurants and classy indoor entertainment. “Vegas Vic”, a giant sized neon lit cowboy is a recognizable landmark being part of several movies shot in Las Vegas.

Old hotel’s such as Binion’s, Four Queens and The Golden Gate are names that are on Las Vegas landscape for over 50 years now. Visit Downtown to get a first hand feel of what the true Las Vegas looks like.
