The Excalibur Hotel and Casino, situated on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, is a hotel and casino owned and operated by MGM Mirage. It has been named after the mythical sword of King Arthur and is based on an Arthurian theme. Its architectural style is, to a large extent, based on the castle in Carcassone, France. Located at the Tropicana-Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, Excalibur is connected to its MGM Mirage properties, Luxor and Mandalay Bay, by free tram service.
The Excalibur, initially built by the Circus Circus Enterprise, was inaugurated on June 19, 1990. The main features of the hotel include an arcade, a motion simulator called Merlin’s Magic Motion Machine, a wedding chapel, and a large family swimming pool. The wedding Chapel is best known for its themed Medieval Weddings. In addition, the hotel operates a world-class spa near the swimming pool. The major restaurants at the Resort include the Roundtable Buffet, the Steakhouse of Camelot, Sir Galahad’s Prime Cuts, and Regale Italian eatery, and Sherwood Forest Café.
