The MGM Grand Las Vegas, situated on the Las Vegas Strip, is a hotel and casino owned and managed by the MGM Mirage. This Hollywood themed resort features 6.6 acres (2.7 hectares) of rivers, waterfalls, and 5 outdoor pools. The resort encompasses nearly 380,000 square feet (35,000 sq. m.) convention center, CBS Television City, the Grand Spa, and the MGM Grand Arena. In addition, the hotel also houses two food courts, a number of shops, 16 restaurants, and several night clubs. The casino at MGM Grand Hotel is the largest in the Clark County.
The main hotel building has 5044 rooms. Besides, The Mansion at MGM Grand features 29 villas, while SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand house 51 lofts. The three The Signature at MGM Grand towers have 576 suites each. The SKYLOFTS are luxury suites and have been awarded the AAA 5 Diamond Award. Situated on the Tropicana-Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, the MGM Grand is linked to the Tropicana and the New York-New York by overhead pedestrian bridges. The latest MGM Grand was inaugurated on December 18, 1993.
A signature attraction at MGM Grand is a glass-sided lion habitat inside the casino area. A see-through tunnel through the habitat offers close-up viewing of the six lions that are shown everyday. These lions are owned by Keith Evans, a popular trainer of exotic animals. The Resort also features Cirque du Soleil’s production KA. Other attractions at the Resort include Studio 54, a recreation of New York’s Studio 54 nightclub; the Hollywood Theater; and Crazy Horse Paris Theater.
