New York-New York Hotel & Casino, situated on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, is the largest casino owned by MGM Mirage. The architectural style of the hotel is based on the New York City theme; several towers in the hotel configured to resemble the skyscrapers of New York City, including the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building. The pool in front of the Hotel represents the New York Harbor and features a roller coaster, 150 ft (45.7 m) tall replica of the Statue of Liberty, and replicas of the Ellis Island, Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Grand Central Terminal, Brooklyn Bridge, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. The bars, eating joints, gambling areas, and meeting rooms in the hotel are named after the main neighborhoods of the New York City.
Situated on the northwest corner of the Tropicana - Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, New York-New York is connected to Excalibur and MGM Grand by overhead pedestrian bridges. The Hotel and Casino was established on January 3, 1997, as a joint venture of MGM Grand Inc. and Primadonna Resorts. Other attractions at the hotel include Zumanity, the first show from Cirque du Soleil to be directed solely towards the adult audiences; an ESPN Zone, situated in the casino; and the Coyote Ugly Saloon, meant particularly for the partying crowd.
