The University of New Mexico (UNM), a public university situated in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was established in 1889. The Albuquerque campus of the University encompasses an area of over 600 acres (2.43 km), and is designed in the unique Pueblo Revival architectural style. Many buildings in the Campus including the Scholes Hall and the Zimmerman Library were designed by the University architect, John Gaw Meem. The UNM also has branch campuses in Taos, Los Alamos, Valencia County, and Gallup. The Main campus, located in central Albuquerque, offers a number of bachelors, masters, professional and doctoral degree programs in all areas of sciences, arts, and engineering. The North Campus mainly includes the medical and law schools while the South Campus comprises of most of UNM’s athletic facilities.

The University Of New Mexico School Of Engineering, the Anderson Schools of Management @ UNM, and the Department of Art and Art History are ranked among the world’s top 20 in their respective fields. The University is also known for athletics. The two main teams include the New Mexico Lobos Basketball and the New Mexico Lobos Football. Besides, UNM also operates KUNM-FM, a National Public Radio station in Albuquerque; and KNME-TV, a public television station. The main buildings and points of tourist interest on the University Campus include University of New Mexico Arboretum, Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, University Art Museum, University Arena, University Stadium, Estufa, and the UNM Cancer Research Building. The organizations that are affiliated to the University include the Service action network and the UNM Capoeira Club.
