Millicent Rogers MuseumThe Millicent Rogers Museum, situated in Taos, New Mexico, features an extraordinary collection of Native American paintings, jewelry, and weavings; Hispanic domestic textiles, sculpture, and metal work; and a wide range of modern Anglo-European Southwestern art. One of the most impressive collections at the museum is the Maria Martinez Family Collection, which comprises of outstanding historical and contemporary Native American ceramics. The Museum also offers breathtaking views of the panoramic Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The Millicent Roger Museum is also known for its wonderful setting and fabulous adobe architecture. This magnificent Taos house was designed by the renowned architect Nathaniel Owings. A significant number of Museum’s holdings were collected by Millicent Rogers. The personal collection of this art patron includes jewelry and textiles representing Southwestern art and design. The main collections features in the galleries of the Museum are Pueblo Pottery, Hopi and Zuni Kachina Dolls, Navajo and Pueblo jewelry, Southwestern Basketry, ornamental and decorative tinwork, and contemporary arts and crafts of northern New Mexico. The permanent collections include Nuestra Senora, Blues of the Southwest, Millicent Rogers Collection of Jewelry, and Maria Martinez Family Collection of Ceramics. This historical Museum has a lot to offer and is a “must see” in Taos.
