Empire Arts Center

empire arts center

The Empire Arts Center, situated in downtown Grand Forks, North Dakota, is a non-profit multi-purpose theater and gallery facility. This historic movie theater was established in 1919 and was completely renovated in 1998. Today, it is the prime center of arts in the Greater Grand Forks metropolitan area. It hosts a variety of performing arts, concerts, speakers, community events, meetings, films, and theater productions throughout the year.

The Empire Arts Center houses a 416-seat theater and an adjacent gallery area. Both the facilities are available on rent for public and private events. The theater has a Barco Vision 8200 projector, which makes it suitable for high end theater productions as well as for video and lecture presentations. The adjacent art gallery serves as an area to cater refreshments for guests. Other facility features of the Arts Center include an 8-foot (2.4-m) door in a large backstage staging area, dressing rooms with private rest rooms, large basement multi-purpose room, large reception area, a spacious lobby with ticket booth, and lighting control in balconies.
