Fargo

Fargo, situated in the Red River Valley region of North Dakota, is the county seat of Cass County. It is the largest city in the state and a healthcare, retail, educational, and manufacturing hub for the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area. Founded n 1871, Fargo has emerged as a famous tourist destination in North Dakota. It is best known for the wide variety of cultural opportunities that it offers. The major theater and music companies in the city include the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theater, Ursa Major Theater Company, Theater “B” in downtown Fargo, The Entertainment Company, the Fargo-Moorhead Opera, the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, the Fargo-Moorhead Youth Symphony, and the Jazz Arts Group. The famous Fargo Theater is a wonderfully restored 1926 Art Deco movie house, which features several film-festivals, first-run movies, and other community events. Broadway musicals, sporting events, concerts, dance performances, and fairs are routinely hosted by the Fargo-dome.

Other main places of tourist interest in the city include the Plains Art Museum, the Children’s Museum at Yunker Farm; the Courthouse Museum; the Fargo Air Museum; the North Dakota State University Wall of Fame in the Scheels All Sports store; and the Roger Maris Baseball Museum in the West Acres Shopping Center. The Plains Art Museum, situated in downtown Fargo, is the largest museum of art in North Dakota and holds a large collection of regional and national exhibits. Besides, the Fargo Park District operates a number of parks, including the Rose Creek Golf Course, the Osgood Golf Course, and the Prairie-wood Golf Course. The Fargo Civic Center, an indoor arena, is well known for its concerts, community events, trade shows, and sporting events.

The John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo hosts the Fargo Flyers Squirt International Hockey Tournament, the world’s largest squirt hockey tournament in the world. Other tourist attractions in the city include the Newman Outdoor Field, home of the Fargo-Moorhead Red Hawks; North Dakota Horse Park, the Red River Zoo, and the Fargo Outdoor Skate Park. Fargo is rich in culture and heritage, and has a lot to offer to its visitors.
