Thomas Gilcrease Institute

The Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is one of the best facilities for the preservation and study of American art and history in the country. It was founded by William Thomas Gilcrease, an American philanthropist, oilman, and art collector. Now known as the Gilcrease Museum, the Institute holds an extensive collection of artifacts, archives, and fine art dealing with the American West. This comprehensive collection comprises of 250,000 Native American artifacts, 10,000 artworks, and over 100, 000 rare documents, maps, and books, including the certified copy of the Declaration of Independence.
The charm and the beauty of the museum attract thousands of visitors to the city every year. The grounds of the Institute feature 23 acres (9 hectares) of thematic gardens, highlighting the gardening styles of different time periods in the American West. The Gilcrease Museum encompasses an area of 460 acres (1.86 sq. km.). It also offers wonderful facilities for a wide range of events, including parties, corporate meetings, banquets, and weddings. The main facilities at the Museum include the Osage Restaurant, the Tom Gilcrease, Jr. Auditorium, the Helmerich Hall, and the Vista Room.
