Bandon

Bandon is a small, beautiful coastal town in Coos County, Oregon, United States. It is just 19 miles (30 km) from Cork City on N71. This small market town, a perfect place to relax, is situated on the south of the Coquille River’s mouth.

Bandon is popularly known as the ‘Cranberry Capital’ of Oregon. This is owing to the fact that this town has over 900 acres of Cranberry bogs and is famous for its cranberry products. The most awaited festival here in Bandon is the ‘Cranberry festival’. It is celebrated in the second week of September every year. This festival is known for its parade, the high school “Cranberry Bowl” football game, dances, exhibits of cranberry dishes, and a crafts fair. This festival attracts tourists from all over the world.

If you are a lover of Irish music, you must plan a holiday to Bandon. This city celebrates yet another festival, the Bandon Music Festival, over the June bank every year. Other major attractions in Bandon include the Bandon Pottery, the Beach Loop, the Face Rock, breathtaking coastal scenery, bottom fishing, wind surfing, and great shopping centers in the 19th century buildings. The most popular tourist activity here is “storm-watching”.

Bandon Pottery is a workshop where you can not only browse through the vast range of pottery made here but you can also watch them being made. This workshop is located on the Dunmanway road; about 2 miles west of Bandon, in West Cork. The most popular road tour here is the Beach Loop. It is in this tour that you can actually appreciate the beauty of Bandon. You can view many craggy sea stacks like the Garden of the Gods, Cat and Kittens Rock, Table Rock, and Elephant Rock. The best of these is the famous ‘Face Rock’. It depicts an Indian maiden’s face. According to the common belief, an evil spirit had frozen her in the stone. 

Bandon dunes golf resort, Bandon state airport, and the Coquille River Lighthouse are among other attractions in this city.
