Buckhorn Lookout

Buckhorn Lookout in Eastern Oregon has many magnificent scenic views to offer to those who manage to reach here. The road FR 46 cuts through the northwest corner of the scenic area and leads to the Buckhorn Lookout, 41 miles (66 km) from the town of Enterprise. Several stopping points along this road provide great views of the Wallowa Canyon and the Hells Canyon.
The Forest service facilitates a drive to the north through rolling grassland and Pon-derosa pine that ends on the canyon rim at Buckhorn Lookout. This Forest Service facility overlooks the ridges, which line the Imnaha Canyon. The latter is the little brother of the famous and spectacular Hells Canyon.
Hells Canyon and its overlooks like the Buckhorn Lookout streak the eastern sky of Oregon, and are spotted with wildflower yellows and reds. The land at a distance from Buckhorn Lookout is stunningly silent and extremely beautiful.
Buckhorn Lookout, Wallowa, is at an elevation of 17,490 feet (5331 m) and its quadrangle is the ‘Deadhorse Ridge’. Just like many lonely, sacred spots around the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, the Wallowa Valley, and the Blue Mountains, Buckhorn is also a long way from anywhere.
This is the right place to lose yourself. Besides enjoying the awesome scenic views from the Buckhorn Lookout, you can enjoy at the campground as well. The campground is the centerpiece of the Buckhorn experience, and is the place where you can pitch your tent and tell stories over the crackling campfire.
Another major attraction nearby is the Buckhorn Springs. The weather here is a bit weird but when you finally make the easy hike up to the Buckhorn Lookout, you can enjoy and appreciate the amazing views of the Imnaha Canyon Lands that look quite similar to the pictures of the Grand Canyon that you might have seen before.
