Joseph

Joseph city is located in the Wallowa County, Oregon. It was formerly named as Silver Lake and Lake City. Then, again in 1880, this city was named after Josef, Nez Perce Chief. According to a survey in 2000, the population of the city was 1,054.
The city, once, was severely affected by the fall down of the timber business in the 1980s, which resulted in the heavy unemployment rate at that time. However, again in 1982, the city flourished owing to a new business born in the city, the business of Bronze. Ever since the bronze foundries business started in the city, the city became well-known for it. Immediately after this, two more industries were established, and sale of the items spread all over the country.
This new trade has played a key role in stabilizing the economy of the city. Every July, the city organizes the annual event ‘Chief Joseph Days Rodeo’ and other small rodeos in the country. This annual event is held every year for almost 60 years.
Events like Brews festival that is organized each August have become extremely popular.
The city is located at the elevation of 4,150 ft (1265 m) from the sea level. The city is located northeast of Oregon. The main attractions of the city are Wallowa Lake State Park, Eagle Cap Wilderness Area, Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, Gateway to Hells Canyon Recreation Area, and the Old Chief Joseph Monument. The city has become a good place to hang out because of these attractions.
