Mount Scott

mount scott

Mount Scott is situated on the southeast flank of the spectacular Crater Lake in southern Oregon. The summit of this small stratovolcano is the highest point within Crater Lake National Park. It is at an elevation of 8,929 ft (2.72 km). There is also a small fire tower on the top. This fire tower marks the end of a trail that winds 1500 feet (450 m) up the mountain.

Mount Scott is named after Levi Scott, an Oregon pioneer. The 5-mile (8-km) long Mount Scott Trail is the ultimate hike in Crater Lake National Park. This arduous trail offers great views of the Lake. Also, it is much steeper and longer than the famous trail to the Garfield Peak.

One can view a marvelous view of all of Crater Lake and much of southern Oregon from the summit. The highest point of Mt. Scott also offers panoramic views of several mountains like Mount Thielsen, Mount Jefferson, and California's Mount Shasta.
Mt. Scott, a major attraction in the Crater Lake National Park, is rich in history and natural beauty and is worth a visit.
