Tamastslikt Cultural Institute

In Oregon, there used to be three tribes namely Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla Tribes. These three distinct tribes merged together and now, they are called as the ‘Confederated Tribes’. They were the people who arrived with horses and paid efforts to develop the city.
Tamástslikt Cultural Institute, a museum at Pendleton, describes the history of these tribes besides many other attractions available there.
At Tamástslikt Exhibits, you can see huge horses that depict the history, appreciate beautiful art galleries, and listen to the story of the Confederated Tribes. This place clearly depicts how they came, invaded, fought, developed, and started trade.
The Coyote Theatre tells about Coyote, the person who introduced Tamástslikts. He is quite intelligent, brave, warrior, and conceited.
This theatre is equipped with the latest light and sound system. Viewers become enthralled while they watch a show here. The interior of theatre is very nice and it can house hundreds of people.
The museum contains a huge collection of artifacts. These artifacts tell what can be important to a civilization and culture. By looking at these artifacts, you can glance over the culture of these tribes.
Besides all this stuff, the museum boasts of the artistry it has. A huge collection of art work is available. A 1,300 square foot (120.77m2) diorama and bold beadwork photographs are highly appreciated among all. There is a fine piece of picture that depicts Columbia River’s Wallula Gap, commonly known as Cayuse Sisters. The magic lies in when somebody looks at it and transition takes place from background to foreground.
This museum is helping a lot to preserve the culture and history of the tribes.
