University of Oregon Museum of Natural History

In April 2005, a delegation of Haida visited the University of Oregon that provide us two ancestors, both of them originated from the village area of Skedans. These ancestors reached the campus of University of Oregon on the basis of an archaeological dig in 1952.
Among the museum's historical items, most of them were discovered by Dr. Thomas, who was the founder Oregon geology.
When he was working and exploring John Day region with many eminent archeologists, he found many things related to 19th and 20th century.
The museum contains most noteworthy collections of the archaeological artifacts and Native American cultural. You can notice textiles, Hand-crafted items, weapons, musical instruments and other objects that represent conventional technologies.
Objects of Southeast Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Philippines and many other areas are included in the collection. The collection comprises of half a million objects.
Museum collections are continuously growing via current excavation and recovery process undertaken by the Research Division, agencies and other archaeologists throughout the Oregon.
This museum has been the state's major center for the protection of archaeological and cultural proofs produced as a consequence of dam and highway construction. Additionally, the Collections Division works together with Oregon Indian tribes when it comes to investigation of history.
As this museum contains extremely large collection of item, it organizes exhibitions now and then. It is a hub for those who want to pursue their career in archeology.
