Salmon Street Springs

The Salmon Street Springs are part of the Tom McCall Waterfront Park attractions and its popularity is undeniable. The fountain 100 jets pour out water out of its openings and will make a hot day quickly turn into a fun one.
Large crowds will grow in hopes of having a little fun in the fountains and cooling them out while warm. The Salmon Street Springs was first in use in 1988 and is not looking back on changing plans on getting rid of it.
Part of that reason is because despite the large amount of gallons of water that comes from the fountains, the jets systems recycles up to 4,924 gallons of water per minute which has eliminated concerns of overly water usage.
A computer is in control of the changing patterns of the water directions. The Portland Development Commission funded the fountain and has said it has been of its best ideas. In 2004 a Portland Water Bureau project replaced all the old cast iron piping with heavy duty PVC in the main drain vault.
