Ben Reifel Visitor Center

The Ben Reifel Visitor Center, situated at Badlands National Park in South Dakota, has been named after Ben Reifel, the first Native American to serve in the U. S. House of Representatives. Located at Cedar Pass, this Visitor Center features a number of roadside exhibits, a video presentation, an elegant gift shop, Native American cultural exhibits, nature trails, and facilities for camping and backpacking. The Cedar Pass Lodge, established in 1928, is managed by the Oglala Sioux tribe.
The main attractions at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center include the Living Prairie and Buried Fossils. The park movie is featured on the hour and half hour. In addition, a full schedule of ranger programs is made available to the visitors. The Visitor Center also directs the visitors to the Big Pig Dig, open to the public daily, from 9 am to 5 pm. A large bookstore is also operated in the Center by the Badlands Natural History Association (BNHA).
