Buddy Holly Center

buddy holly center

In the city of Lubbock - Texas, find one of the most admired destinations for music and art lovers – the Buddy Holly Center. Hosted in a building that was formerly an elaborate Ft. Worth & Denver Depot constructed for Burlington Railroad, this center today attracts thousands of patrons of the rock-and -roll genre of music.

Built in the honor of the gifted musician Charles Hardin "Buddy" Holley, the center aims to preserve the magic created by this musician loved and admired not only in Texas but all over the nation. Here visitors, especially lovers of rock-and-roll music, thoroughly take pleasure in the permanent exhibit - Buddy Holly Gallery- that brings alive the life and times of this talented artiste by displaying a series of Buddy Holly’s artifacts and belongings, especially his trademark horn rimmed glasses. Everyone visiting this center irrespective of a musical inclination would be touched to view in close quarters the life of this singer who died in an air crash at a young age of 23. In particular the 20 minute documentary that is aired in the center is extremely educative.

Another major attraction is 2500 square feet Fine Arts Center that has rotating exhibits and beautifully captures the shifting focus of contemporary visual arts in the region and the country through its popular exhibitions. There is also the section in the center called as the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame which concentrates on the great musical heritage of Texas.

The music store is perfect for picking up some interesting tokens of the visit.
