The Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library, situated in Austin, Texas, is one of the eleven presidential libraries managed by the National Archives and Records Administration. The Library holds nearly 45 million pages of historical documents, including papers and vast administrative files from the entire public career of Lyndon Baines Johnson and his close associates. These papers and files from the presidency are used mainly by research scholars. The Library and Museum also offers year-round public viewing of its permanent cultural and historical exhibits. The Friends of the LBJ Library and its parent organization, the LBJ Foundation privately sponsor special activities and exhibits at the Museum.
The LBJ Presidential Library and Museum also features a number of traveling exhibitions pertaining to American history in its changing exhibition gallery. Besides, various special exhibitions are organized in-house. The Library is handicap accessible and also holds transcripts for deaf and hard-hearing, wheel chairs, and Braille booklets. Also, closed caption video presentations offer text in Spanish as well as in English. The specialty shop in the campus offers authentic campaign items, including a selection of gifts, souvenirs, and books.
