Green River

green river through canyonlands national park

Green River is a beautiful city situated in Utah, USA. It is included partly in the Emery County and partly in the Grand County. This city is named after the spectacular Green River, on the banks of which it is located. The major landmarks are the San Rafael Swell region to the west of Green River, and the Canyonlands National Park to the south. Another major attraction in the area is the Crystal Geyser, situated 9 miles (14.4 km) southeast of the city. This cold water geyser is nothing but a carbon-dioxide driven, erupting well. John Wesley Powell Museum in Green City is also worth a visit.

This city is just 100 miles (160.9 km) from Grand Junction, Colorado and Richfield, Utah. The city’s economy depends mainly on hotels, restaurants, fast food centers, and gas stations. Green City was formerly just a river crossing for the U.S. Mail. The first settlers in the city were Thomas Farrer and his family. Rail service is provided to the Green River station by Amtrak, the national passenger rail system. Amtrak’s California Zephyr functions daily in both directions between Chicago and Emeryville, California, running across the bay from San Francisco.

Besides, shuttle service and an airport are also there in the city to facilitate travel.
At present, Green River is the ultimate base camp for adventures on the Green River, in the San Rafael Desert, the San Rafael Swell, The Book Cliffs, and the Gunnison Valley. The city offer services 24 hrs a day. Motels, hotels, restaurants, fast food, fuel, and groceries are all available at reasonable rates. From the early explorers, to Native Americans, to farmers, to railroaders, to outlaws, to Cowboys, to mining, to missiles, to tourists and boaters, Green River has seen them all. This city is rich in culture, history, and beauty and is worth a visit during your stay at Utah.
