Riverfront Park

riverfront park

Riverfront Park in located in downtown Spokane and is spread over more than 100 acres (40 hectares) of land. Some of the main features of the Park include flower-bedecked paths, spacious lawns, rides, park benches, and various works of public art that are reflected in The Joy of Running Together. The latter is a mob of life-size runners sculptured in steel by David Govedare.

The major attractions in the Riverfront Park are the Spokane Opera House, the 5-story IMAX Theatre, the giant Radio Flyer Wagon, the hand-carved Looff Carousel, Gondola Ride, and an amusement park called ‘the Pavilion’. Riverfront Park is the best place for skating, running, cycling, and strolling. A number of festivals are organized in the park throughout the year. Also, there is a WiFi area in the park to facilitate working on laptops.

Riverfront Park was the site for Expo '74, the city's biggest World's Fair. It was subsequently preserved as a landmark park. The Spokane River is the pride and joy of the park and is quite popular with rafters and kayakers. This river originates in Coeur d'Alene Lake in North Idaho and falls into the Columbia River located north of the town of Davenport.

This park also has several hiking trails and offers spectacular scenic views of the Spokane River. If you are an artist, this park is the best place where you can capture the beauty of nature on the canvas. You are also allowed to take your camera along with you. Riverfront Park has a lot to offer everyone and is one of the best picnic spots in the Washington State.
