Whitman College, Walla Walla is named in the honor of the missionary Whitman couple, Marcus and Narcissa who were massacred in 1847. A residential liberal arts college established in 1882, Whitman College currently provides 42 fields of study for Bachelor of Arts degrees and about 10 other fields for exclusive minor studies. Known for its rigorous curriculum, a strict selection process, extremely competent faculty and well groomed and knowledgeable students, Whitman College boasts of an impeccable record. The college focuses on overall personality development and offers variety of sporting and extra curricular activities.

The campus and buildings of Whitman College are celebrated and the beauty of the region adds to the classic yet contemporary look of the college. Designed aesthetically, the campus houses streams and ponds with a variety of ducks, neatly manicured gardens, tall fir trees, well laid paths and of course the much admired outdoor sculptures.

A visit to the Whitman College will bring out the multi faceted amenities at the premises. Large sports arena - Ankeny Field, Harper Joy Theatre, Cordiner Hall concert auditorium, and Donald H. Sheehan Art Gallery, the modern Penrose Library and The Reid Campus Center - a widespread area used for gatherings of the entire Whitman community, are places to look out for in the campus. Lakum Duckum is a beautiful pond inside the campus that adds to the grace of the grounds and is a great socializing joint.
