pacific science center

The Pacific Science Center is located in Seattle, Washington. It is a non-profit, independent science museum situated on the south side of the famous Seattle Center. It encompasses an area of about 7.1 acres (0.029 square-km). This Science center is at a walking distance from the famous space needle.

It was designed by Minoru Yamasaki, the architect of the renowned World Trade Center in New York. Each building in the complex has walls that are made of pre-cast concrete slabs and form a characteristic arch motif. It was initially known as the United States Science Pavilion and was constructed as a part of the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle. It was only after the fair ended that it was renamed as the Pacific Science Center. At present, it is owned by the Pacific Science Center Foundation.
The museum complex has a total of 8 buildings. These include 2 IMAX theaters, the world's largest Laser Dome Theater, a tropical butterfly House, and a planetarium. The domed Spacerium in the Science Center is designed specially for a unique wide-angle movie journey through space. This Spacerium is used for laser shows. IMAX is a popular movie theater in the Science Center.

Besides, there are hundreds of hands-on science exhibits. Not unlike many other museums, Pacific Science Center creates and rents several traveling exhibits. Some of the notable traveling exhibits include "Discovering the Scrolls”, “Titanic: the Artifacts Exhibit", and "China: 7,000 Years of Discovery". Pacific Science Center has a fleet of vans that are meant to provide science education to schools all across the state. There is also a division of staff workers that aim to show teachers in the state the best methods to teach science.
