Casper, the second largest city in Wyoming, is placed at the foothills of Casper Mountains. Notably it is the one and the only city in the entire Natrona County as the latter is made up of several small towns.
Casper offers some great recreational stuff for outdoor enthusiasts. 4 world class golf courses and the 42 parks located within the city are perfect for outings. Also, the stunning experience of whitewater kayaking presented by the North Platte River that passes through Casper should not be missed. The Hogadon Ski Area is a preferred ski destination, famous for its skiing trails and vertical drops. Camping, hiking and snowboarding are the other recreational activities available here.
Historically inclined tourists would enjoy every bit of their trip to the Fort Casper Museum and Historical Site. Here a range of exhibits showcase life in the pre-historic period to the latest significant developments in the state. The chief attraction here however remains the reconstructed buildings and materials from the original fort, especially the Mormon Ferry that dates back to 1847.
Petroleum and Energy industries have an active presence in the city and of late Casper has emerged as the banking and commerce hub of the region. Shopping in downtown Casper has a pleasant mix of both antique and contemporary merchandise. Restaurants provide a wonderful dining experience, with a greater part of the menus listing traditional American cuisine.
Casper is located within close proximity to the popular Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, another reason for the constant rise in the tourist numbers.
