A tiny village situated on the shoreline of Jackson Lake, in Grand Teton National Park, Colter Bay Village is the ideal getaway from the fast paced city life. Equipped with two restaurants, accommodations, a launderette, grocery and gift shops, a visitor center and a full service marina, the village offers a comfortable and quiet stay.
Accommodations are in rough log cabins, which are over 150 in number, and tent cabins (available only between June and September) on the hillside. Some of the log cabins are original residences of the first settlers in the region. The log cabins, with neatly done interiors, decent furnishings, all cleanly maintained are a favorite with visitors. For those who want a tent cabin, the charges are minimal and tourists can take on rent sleeping bags, pillows, blankets etc. There are no radios and television sets, which makes for the perfect escape from the city.
Colter Bay is characterized by widespread greenery and abundant wildlife including spot moose, muskrats, beavers, waterfowl and otters. From the marina, the popular trail of The Hermitage Point Trailhead begins.
The scenic surroundings, availability of essential services and the reasonable prices collectively make it a perfect choice for families. With the visitor center that is open round the clock, tourists are indeed very well taken care of.
