Cody, Wyoming has a great attraction for those who are interested in the history of the Old West. Trail Town or Old Trail Town is a collection of 26 buildings that are both historical and classic, as they represent the Old Wyoming town during the period 1879 to 1900. Several buildings were shifted from their original location, and re-built brick-by-brick in today’s Trail Town. Additionally there are wide range of Native American Artifacts, horse-drawn carriages and memorabilia from this borderline state of Wyoming.
The main aim of this trail is to take visitors into the past, to shed light on the lives of some of the historically important figures of Wyoming such as John "Jeremiah”, Jim White "Buffalo Hunter," Sundance Kid, Butch Cassidy and General Custer. The most appealing cabin to visitors is that of Curly, a scout for General Custer, a legendary figure who was killed during the Battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876. Built in 1885, the cabin is well preserved and neatly maintained. Another cabin which was transported from Hole in the Wall Country can also been seen here.
Old Trail Town which is located in West Cody has become an important landmark of this town. Visitors have the choice to walk around the buildings or have a close look at the artifacts along the boardwalk. Also they can visit The Trail Town Cemetery, where some of these legendary locals and national heroes were laid to rest.
